In this optional book club, participating students will take a deep dive into character analysis by looking at the Marvel superhero Daredevil, also known as Matt Murdock. Each student will read three Daredevil collections, in the following order: Daredevil: The Man Without Fear (Frank Miller and John Romita Jr. 1994), Daredevil: Born Again (Frank Miller and Dave Mazzucchelli 1986), Daredevil: Guardian Devil (Kevin Smith, Joe Quesada and Jimmy Palmiotti 1999), and Daredevil: Yellow (Joeseph Loeb and Tim Sale 2002). We will spend ten days on each book. During this time, students are strongly encouraged to watch Daredevil (Disney+) and Daredevil Born Again (Disney+), as well as read additional material from Mr. Tubach's personal collection.

In a 1,000+ word essay, students will support their thesis with evidence from Daredevil stories. This essay will be in MLA format, and must include a works cited page with at least three sources. Critical thinking skills will be put to the test, as students must include a counter-argument and rebuttal in their essay.
